Answers:

  1. How did New Song start?
Pastor Dan & Brenda Mickelson, Pastor Jim & Michele Wolf, and three other families moved to the Rogue Valley in 1994 for the intent purpose of planting New Song. The church they had been serving at--Philadelphia Church in Astoria, Oregon--sent them with their blessing. Philadelphia Church is still a friend of New Song, jokingly referred to as the "Mother Church."
New Song's first services were populated with new friends Pastor Dan met while evangelizing in the neighborhoods. Going door-to-door was (and still is) a way of building relationships and encouragment, never a solicitation attempt or "membership drive." Evangelism of all forms is a vital part of any life-filled group.
New Song is a Holy Spirit renewal, charismatic, Christian fellowship. Prayer, worship, Bible study, and relationships with Jesus and with people have remained the foundations of our church family.

  2. What does your church believe?
What we believe is summed up well in the Apostle's Creed of circa A.D. 250:
"We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven & earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, & buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven & sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living & the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy international church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, & the life everlasting."

  3. How do I find out about the pastors?
We have a page introducing the Pastors Leaders and Staff here.

  4. Are you affiliated with any denomination?
New Song is not affiliated with any denomination. When Pastors Dan and Brenda founded New Song in 1995, they prayerfully explored the option of existing under a denomination, but felt led to establish New Song as a non-denominational church. Pastor Dan believes that in general local church bodies function better when they relate directly to Christ Jesus as the Head of the church.

  5. What is the governmental structure of the church?
The governmental structure at New Song is twofold. First, the three founding pastors (Daniel Mickelson, Brenda Mickelson, and Jim Wolf) compose a church leadership team. Second, a board of advisors meets on a monthly basis to give counsel, provide financial accountability, and to review church giving and expenditures. New Song leadership is committed to an atmosphere of open and honest communication.

  6. When are your services?
We have a page with our Service Times here.

  7. How do I get there?
We have a Directions page here.

  8. Do I have to get all dressed up?
Only if you want to go out to a formal lunch afterwards. We have everything from Dockers to shorts being worn. The thing we ask is that you maintain a level of modesty befitting of the King of Glory and not to be a distraction to those worshipping around you. If you see Pastor Dan show up in a tie, you will know something is up.

  9. Is there anything for my kids?
    Absolutely!
During our Sunday Morning Services we have Nursery, Preschool, and Children's Church classes.
We also have Childcare available during our Sunday Evening FIRE service. For more information click here.

  10. Is there a high school ministry? How about a junior high ministry? How about college-aged?
    Yes, yes and yes.
We have a Youth Group for High School and Junior High.
For College age we have a Young Adults group.
We also have a ministry called IGNITE which is for anyone aged between 17 and 25 (plus or minus 5 years!).

  11. Are there any mid-week services?
Yes. We have a Wednesday Night Prayer meeting, where we have a devotional teaching, spend time in worship, and pray creatively for many different prayer focuses.
